Borat 2: Trailer, Plot, Where To Watch It and More

Borat 2

Amazon Studios

A staggering 14 years since the Borat movie came out in 2006, Sacha Baron Cohen is surprising us with another outing of this classic comedy character! Here’s everything you need to know about Borat 2…

Much like the original, the title of the sequel is quite a mouthful: Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

Borat 2 Trailer

A brand new trailer for the surprise film dropped recently, and it’s unsurprisingly full of shocking, hilarious and tongue-bite-offingly awkward moments:

What’s Borat 2 about?

We join Borat in prison, where he is serving a sentence of hard labour for embarassing his nation during his trip to America in the first movie. The country’s premiere, Nursultan Nazarbayev, tasks him to deliver a gift to Donald Trump, in an attempt to redeem Kazahkstan.

The gift in question is Johnny the Monkey; the Kazakh Minister of Culture. However, something goes wrong along the way, and Borat decides to gift his fifteen-year-old daughter, Tutar, to Vice President Pence instead.

Who is Tutar?

When Borat is released from prison, he visits home to find his fifteen-year-old daughter, Tutar, living in the barn. When she learns her father is going to America, she is desperate to go with him.

Tutar, who is brilliantly played by Maria Bakalova, makes an excellent double act with Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat. They double up on the awkwardness of the first movie; forming a two-pronged attack against the unsuspecting people they interact with in the film.

How much did Borat 2 cost to make?

Since the film is largely a case of the actors reacting with real members of the public, its budget is a long way off that of a Hollywood blockbuster, coming in at just $18 million. Amazon paid $80 million to have exclusivity of Borat 2 on Prime.

Where and when can I watch it?

Borat 2 dropped in October 2020, so you can watch it right now over on Amazon Prime, with no extra charge on top of your regular subscription!
